| Background | Steroid receptors are a large superfamily of ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone. Estrogen receptor (ER) has been classified into two distinct isoforms, alpha and beta. ER alpha is known to interact in a ligand dependent and independent manner with several known coactivators including Receptor-Interacting Protein 140 (RIP140/ERAP140), ERAP160, and Steroid Receptor Coactivator-1 (SRC-1) to enhance transcriptional activity of target genes. |
| Immunogen | Synthetic Peptide: M(1) T M T L H T K A S G M A L L H Q I Q G N(21) C corresponding to amino acid residues 1-21 of human ER alpha. Swiss Num.: P03372 Remarks: This peptide sequence is completely conserved between human, rat and mouse and is highly conserved between sheep, porcine, camel, bovine and chicken ER alpha. This peptide (SP5195CP) is available for use in Neutralization and Control experiments. |
