Background	APJ or Apelin Receptor, is an angiotensin-1-like receptor that is expressed abundantly in the corpus callosum and spinal cord. The human apelin receptor has been localized to chromosome 11. In porcine spinal cord, APJ mRNA was detected at a higher level in white matter than in gray matter (Matsumoto et al., 1996). APJ binds apelin, which induces cell acidification (Tatemoto et al., 1998).

Applications	Suitable as blocking peptide for antibody SP4067P. It usually blocks the antibody activity completely in immunohistochemistry by pre-incubating the antibody with a 1-10x molar volume of peptide for 60 minutes at RT (optimization of the molar ratio of antigen to antibody may be required). Centrifugation of the pre-adsorbed solution prior to addition to the slide may decrease background due to non-specific binding of the large antibody-antigen complexes.
