| Background | Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone.
There is extensive documentation that both avian and mammalian PR isolated from tissue soluble extracts can exist in one of two different molecular forms A and B. Human PR consists of a 94 kDa A form and a 120 kDa B form. Chicken PR consists of a 78 kDa A form and a 110 kDa B form. Alpha PR6 reacts with both the 120 kDa B form of human PR and the 110 kDa B form of chicken PR. |

| Applications | Immunocytochemistry.
Immunohistochemistry on frozen sections: 20 µg/ml. Immunoprecipitation. Western Blot: 1 µg/ml, detects a 110 kDa protein representing the B form of the PR in chickens and rabbits as well a 120 kDa doublet or triplet bands in humans. |
| Specificity | This antibody detects the B form of the progesterone receptor (PR) from human, mouse, rat, rabbit, bovine, chicken, and guinea pig tissues.
This antibody does not cross-react with estrogen receptor or glucocorticoid receptor. |
| Storage | Store the antibody at -20°C.
