| Background | Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone.
There is extensive documentation that both avian and mammalian PR isolated from tissue soluble extracts can exist in one of two different molecular forms A and B. Human PR consists of a 94 kDa A form and a 120 kDa B form. Chicken PR consists of a 78 kDa A form and a 110 kDa B form. |
