| Background | Presenilin-2 (PS-2) is a transmembrane protein localized in the intracellular membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. It is expressed in many tissues. Mutations in PS-2 are involved in Alzheimer Disease. Presenilins are also involved in the processing by caspase-type proteases. The peptide used for immunisation is 82% identical and 88% homolog to the rat sequence and 88% identical and 94% homolog to the mouse sequence. Therefore, reactivity on both species can be expected. |
