| Background | T-box transcription factors contain a novel type of DNA-binding domain, the T-box domain, which are encoded by an ancient gene family. 12 human T-box genes have been isolated. T-box gene 2 (TBX2) shares strong sequence similarity with Drosophila omb protein and expression studies indicate that TBX2 may be involved in tumorigenesis as an immortalizing agent. |
