| Background | The human insulin receptor is a heterotetrameric membrane glycoprotein consisting of disulfide-linked subunits in a β-α-α-β configuration. The β-subunit (95kDa) possesses a single transmembrane domain with tyrosine kinase acivity, whereas the α-subunit (135kDa) is completely extracellular. |

| Applications | Western Blot: antibody at 1-2 micrograms/ml for 2 hrs. at RT.
Immunohistochemistry on Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) sections: antibody at 2-4 micrograms/ml for 30 min. at RT. Requires boiling tissue in 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. Recommended positive control: Human placenta or brain, HEP-G-2, IM-9 lymphocyte cells. Tyrosine Kinase Assay (Ab-mediated capture on microtitre plates). ELISA as capture antibody (use antibody without BSA). Affinity purification (with peptide elution). Not suitable for immunoprecipitation. |
